The Psychology of Dressing

Neutral tones on a gloomy day...

I woke up one morning and gazed out the window. Rain was pouring down. Immediately I reached for my trusty 'don't-care-if-I-ruin' shoes. But then I had a thought... why? I'd seen plenty of photos in gloomy London during Fashion Week featuring the Dior-clad feet of show-goers stomping through puddles without a care in the world.

This got me thinking: do we dress according to our mood, the weather, utility, trends, or is there no such over-arching fashion force driving our sartorial choices on any given day? Personally, I try to picture myself in my surroundings and dress accordingly. I guess the stylist in me is imagining what I'd look like if a photograph were to be taken that day... (not sure if vain or just a decent strategy)

So on this particularly gloomy day I knew I was heading into the city and wanted to create an image that featured complimentary tones to my surroundings and captured those moody vibes.

Cue: little nude dress / the perfect outfit basic. Dress it up with a coat and heels, dress it down with a denim jacket and sneakers. The best part - it's super affordable and just to thank you for stopping by, here's a free shipping code if you can't resist adding this bargain to cart at Dear Charlie: 'FREESHIPEDSON'.
