MBFWA: Colour Block Coat

Statement coats just got an upgrade...

Day 2 of MBFWA was a little colder so I pulled out a new piece of mine. Colour-blocking was huge a few seasons ago and although its moment may have come and gone, I really needed to add a bit of colour to my monochrome wardrobe. P.S. how major are these silver flatform brogues! I couldn't resist when I saw them in store and had to make them mine. Usually I don't go for flatforms but these are the perfect height for me - not too over-the-top. Even though I wasn't wearing embellished Gucci mules (I wish), every street style photographer wanted to snap these babies! After watching the Jennifer Kate show (pictures to come) I was convinced I'd made a great decision. Silver, black and red flatforms ruled the runway. So get ready to see these everywhere!

Back to the coat, Sportsgirl really got it right this season, creating a fresh spin on the classic camel coat. Cosy and cool, it is still neutral enough to go with most colours and to be honest, the more the better when colour-blocking. Or play it safe and comfortable with a monochrome outfit underneath - let the coat do the talking.
