What to Wear on a Country Escape

Staying cosy in the hills of Byron Bay...

What I love most (and what I'll miss most!) about living in Brisbane is being in close proximity to some of Australia's most beautiful landscapes. Just one car trip and you can find yourself on the sunny Gold Coast, breezy Sunshine Coast and my favourite, Byron Bay. Byron is the best of both worlds - rolling countryside that at its peaks, looks out to the Pacific Ocean past Australia's most easterly point, marked by a lighthouse.

In the middle of winter, you can experience warm days and chilly nights. Which brings me to my go-to outfit for a country escape. When the moon rose after a remarkable sunset, the temperature dropped and it was time for me to rug up!

If you haven't seen it already, my post on the top 6 jackets every woman should own includes a wool coat like this one. Camel is one of those easy-to-wear neutrals that everyone can pull off. Dark jeans and boots are essential for trekking through off-road areas which are prone to mud, cow poop and other delightful mysteries that your 'good shoes' should never come into contact with.
